Last month’s inter-school cross country meet proved to be a true test of determination as pupils from Year 10 and Year 11 braved the elements to compete against schools from across the region. Battling not only strong competition but also the force of Storm Claudia, our runners demonstrated exceptional grit and resilience throughout the event.
Despite heavy winds, driving rain, and muddy terrain, the team approached the challenge with admirable spirit. Staff who attended the meet spoke proudly of the pupils’ perseverance, noting that many refused to let the harsh conditions dampen their enthusiasm or weaken their resolve. Their commitment to representing the school with pride was evident from start to finish.
Among the standout performances were those from our Girls team, who rose impressively to the occasion. Head Girl, Erin and Year 10 pupil Sammy both secured places in the Top 10—an outstanding achievement given the scale of the competition and the severity of the weather. Their strong finishes were celebrated by teammates and staff alike, highlighting the depth of talent and determination within the squad.
The school extends a huge congratulations to all runners who took part. Their courage, teamwork, and positive attitude in the face of challenging conditions made them excellent ambassadors for the school. With such a strong showing this early in the season, hopes are high for continued success in upcoming fixtures.
