On Monday 2nd February, our Year 8 boys football team played a league fixture against Lostock Hall. With a slightly depleted squad due to a couple of injuries, Brownedge called on two Year 7s to play up a year and represent their school by playing their first 11-a-side game.

The first half begun and Brownedge were creating chances and defending well, with a great opportunity missed early on. However, it was Lostock Hall who took the lead in the first-half. Despite this, Kacper P, Josh C and Ephraim O continued to battle in midfield and not long after, a well-rehearsed free kick from Kaleb C sought-out Ollie-Rae S, who found the back of the net with a great headed finish and we were back in the game.

A few tweaks at half-time saw Brownedge continue to attack well and defend as a team with Max S, Charlie E, Leo W and Year 7 debutant James S all putting in some great challenges and interceptions to stop the Lostock Hall attacks. Year 7 Bailey M found a goal at the near post after pressing well and winning the ball back from the defender, before George B's brilliant hold up play allowed Bailey to continue to find space down the right hand side and, ultimately, a long-range strike from Billy Marlow sealed a 3-1 win for Brownedge.

Well done to everyone who played for your continued effort during training sessions and your ability to work as a team to fight for the win!
