In a thrilling Lancashire Cup fixture, our Year 10 boys took to the pitch against Carnforth High School and, despite a 3–1 defeat, delivered one of their most impressive performances in recent memory. The match was a showcase of determination, teamwork, and resilience — qualities that left coaches, spectators, and even the opposition full of praise.

From the first whistle, it was clear that both sides were evenly matched. The opening half saw end-to-end action, with our boys holding their own and matching Carnforth’s intensity. A well-taken goal brought the score to 1–1 at half-time, setting the stage for a nail-biting second half.

As the game progressed, Carnforth managed to edge ahead midway through the second half. Our team responded with renewed energy, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. In the closing minutes, as we committed players forward, Carnforth found space to add a third goal — a late blow that didn’t reflect the balance of play.

Despite the final scoreline, the performance was full of positives. Across the pitch, players showed grit and skill, with several standout contributions. Filip was relentless up front, pressing defenders and creating chances with tireless effort. Elliot, our goalkeeper, was a wall between the posts — making a string of outstanding saves that earned him the title of Man of the Match. His performance was so impressive that even Carnforth’s manager took a moment to commend his efforts.

As the team looks ahead to future fixtures, today’s match will be remembered not for the result, but for the spirit and unity on display. It’s clear that this squad has the potential to go far, and with performances like this, they’re already winning in ways that go beyond the scoreboard.

Well done, boys — a proud day for the team and the school.
