We had four of our football teams in action this week, and our pupils were determined to shine bright as they pulled on the Brownedge shirt!

First, Year 8 - pictured above - played at home to Lostock, suffering a narrow 4-2 defeat, before Year 9 took part in a thrilling game against Priory. The final score was 4-4, but Brownedge claimed the victory on penalties, with Oliver from 9R scoring the winning spot-kick. Mr Hayhurst highlighted several key performances, including Will who controlled the game in central midfield with his pressing and quality on the ball, as well as Austin who made several excellent saves, and Owen who scored Brownedge's fourth goal.

Later in the week, Year 7 were beaten 2-0 in a tight game away at Balshaws. At 1-0 down our players threw everything at getting an equaliser, and were unfortunately caught on the break as Balshaws put the game to bed. Mr Hayhurst commented on the great spirit and 'never give up' attitude of the team. Impressive performances came from goalkeeper Lewis who saved a penalty, as well as right-back Spencer and winger Chloe, who came close to setting up an equaliser when she came on as a substitute.

Our final game saw Year 10 go down 5-2 away at a strong Priory side. Missing several key players, Mr Crusham had praise for his makeshift defence, who worked hard to keep the score down. Caden got Brownedge's two goals with a pair of excellent strikes, while Mr Crusham's Player of the Match was Luca, who stepped up from Year 9 to put in a strong debut performance.

Well done to all our players for representing the Brownedge family so well!
