In November, as part of our ongoing pledge to help fight for the future of our beautiful planet gifted to us by God, Year 7 pupils and our Eco Warrior group planted 210 trees on Higham Hill, the area of ground next to the school’s 3G Astroturf. The saplings were kindly donated by The Woodland Trust and included a variety of trees including blackthorn, oak, hazel, birch and rowan.

The aim of the project was twofold. Firstly, to live out the Pope’s calling outlined in Laudato Si, calling us to acknowledge the urgency of our environmental challenges and to join him in embarking on a new path to care for our Common Home. Secondly, to attempt to offset some of the carbon produced in school.

We wanted to give our pupils the opportunity to make a positive contribution for the planet and by planting these trees, we made our attempt to support a solution to climate change. A huge thank you to Mr Robson, Mr S Wilson and their team for inspiring our community to come together and leave a lasting legacy for future generations to enjoy.
