Year 9 had a visit this term from the community police team to look at what county lines is and how young people can be affected. There is a growing number of young people who have been groomed by gangs to carry illegal drugs, money and weapons for criminals. Pupils in school looked at the risks of becoming a ‘mule’ and being involved in gangs, and how to spot the signs of grooming by criminals.

In November, PC Lee, who is an armed police commander, spoke to Year 9 about his experience of dealing with knife crime. PC Lee educated pupils about the law on carrying weapons and what the consequences can be as a result of carrying a knife.
