Pupils were treated to an engaging and educational experience as Lancashire County Council's Streetwise team visited for an interactive session focused on road safety. The workshop, tailored specifically for Year 7 students, aimed to instil vital awareness and understanding of how to stay safe while travelling to and from school.
The session was part of the council’s ongoing commitment to promoting safety among young people, particularly as they begin to navigate more independent travel routines. Delivered in a lively and accessible format, the presentation captured the attention of students with real-life scenarios, thought-provoking questions, and interactive discussions.
Throughout the session, the Streetwise team emphasised three core themes: risk, responsibility, and consequences. Pupils were encouraged to think critically about the choices they make on the road—whether walking, cycling, or using public transport—and how those choices can impact not only their own safety but also the wellbeing of others.
Lancashire County Council’s Streetwise initiative continues to be a valuable resource for schools across the region, helping to build a culture of safety and awareness among young people. As road environments become increasingly complex, especially in urban areas, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to make safe decisions is more important than ever.
The school extends its sincere thanks to the Streetwise team for their time, energy, and dedication to keeping our pupils safe. We look forward to welcoming them back in the future for further sessions that support our students’ growth as responsible and informed members of the community.
